Morimoto, the namesake restaurant of executive chef and partner Masaharu Morimoto and owner Stephen Starr, brings together Japan�s most esteemed chef with its most acclaimed architect, Pritzker Architecture Prize winner Tadao Ando. Located at 99 Tenth Ave (at 16th Street), near Manhattan�s meatpacking district, the 12,000-square-foot bilevel restaurant features an exposition kitchen and sushi bar, glass privacy walls, an organic ceiling of canvas reinforced with fiberglass and resin, and a nine-ton two-level wall made of more than 17,000 bottles of spring water. The star of the Food Network hit shows Iron Chef and Iron Chef America, Chef Morimoto is well regarded for his ability to seamlessly integrate Western ingredients with traditional Japanese culinary sensibilities, offering contemporary Japanese cuisine, expressed most vividly in his omakase, or chef�s tasting menu.
